Limpopo - Unlike other party leaders whose home wards will be controlled by other political parties, EFF leader Julius Malema will have no such problems.

His party looks set to win Ward 13, where Malema cast his vote this week in Seshego, Limpopo.

Malema retweeted Independent Media's projection that the EFF would win the ward if it captured one outstanding voting district, saying, “EFF won that ward”.

With only Mponegele Primary School voting station yet to be counted, the EFF stood at 49.8% while the ANC had 45.6% of the vote.

Limpopo has only 8% of votes to count before all results can be declared official. However, it is already clear that the EFF has emerged as the official opposition in the province.

The ANC led the province with 68.7%, significantly lower than the 81% it attained in 2011, while the EFF trailed it at 16.6%, with the DA at 8.1%.

The Democratic Alliance also had a number of victories in the province, growing in places such as Bela-Bela, while they won Ward 21 in Bendor, Polokwane.

On the latest count, the ANC had 461 seats, while the EFF had 61.
