Following in the footsteps of its parent body, the ANC Youth League has jumped on the business network lounge bandwagon by offering big-ticket packages for access to all discussions and closed sessions during its national congress this month, as well as breakfast with President Jacob Zuma and youth league leader Julius Malema.
The league on Thursday launched a website inviting businesses to attend the conference, albeit at a price.
Packages on offer range from the R50 000 Anton Muziwakhe Lembede Founder’s Package for one participant; the R80 000 Oliver Reginald Tambo Homecoming Package for two; the Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Volunteer Package at a cost of R120 000 for three; and the Walter Ulyate Max Sisulu Recruiters Package, which will set back enthusiasts R180 000 for five participants.
As a treat for those willing to part with their cash for the five-day conference, breakfast with Malema and Zuma will be included, where culinary treats will be prepared by “the best chefs in town”.
What’s on the youth league’s menu, other than the nationalisation of the country’s resources, one might wonder? “From olives to bacon and eggs,” said league treasurer-general Pule Mabe.
“It will be a huge spread, a combination of the normal English breakfast and African dishes such as pap, health breakfasts, muesli, fresh fruits and yoghurts. And halaal food too,” said Mabe.
He said the breakfast would take place on the first day of the conference, which runs from June 16 to 20.
He warned that “seats were limited”.
Mabe said it was not so much a money-making opportunity for the young lions as a chance to “mobilise business behind our ideals”.
Mabe said the league hoped to use this opportunity to “build a link between corporate SA and ourselves”.
The league would next take to Facebook, BlackBerry MobileChat and multimedia messages to market the lounge. - Political Bureau

Blackmanrules........Luckily p****ol, your lot is WAY in the minority. You have them guns now but you sound very uneducated, in fact dof is a compliment. Your children WILL think different to you and your lot will be discarded onto the garbage heap of post - apartheid rubble. You are nothing but a idiotic rabid racist who clearly cannot distinguish between right or wrong. You are no doubt also a product of the ANC's very own ideal of 'Bantu Education'You are also probably more to be pittied than scolded. . Your useless leaders have created enough of them who vent their anger on their NEW oppressor. To you too.....Get a life, Get a decent car, or simply get stuffed.

Truth is your business people will go because they are opportunists.... There is no such thing as a clean business person... Success is built on how many people in high places do you know...

One thing many people don't realise is the amount of 21st century ANCYL folk in senior Gauteng and national government positions. You only have to look at Mashatile, Gigaba, Mbalula etc. Many private companies such as Accenture, HP etc make millions a year from contracts and projects with these govts and they know that a little bit of lunch, dinner or breakfast can be favourable for business profit margins. So if you butter up the ANCYL you butter up many key people in govt, so how they react to this will be another indicator of how the wind is blowing in the completely legal business-govt relationships.

I would not sit at the same table even if you paid me R100,000!

The packages have been completely sold out. They were fairly priced. Before the presidential elections we paid more than R500 000 for a plate. To all those people that cannot afford, sorry. Your turn will come. One day is one day! Besides the breakfast there will definitely be some revolutionary ideas to discuss about the future of our country. Please send me an email if you have any revolutionary ideas that you want me to discuss on your behalf.

These kind of party fundraising events are in no way unique to the ANC. Political parties and big business have always been joined at the hip. Its been like that everywhere since the concept of government was born. Where do you people think Cope, DA and NFP get their money from? The only difference is that the SA media has a hard on for the ANC. It may be for political reasons or it may be for economic reasons. Julius Malema sells more papers than any other public figure to ever hold any kind of public seat. I also despise that they are using the names of the struggle greats for this event as their names are in no way related to the event. Other than that I see no fault with them selling tables at a fundraiser.

Ha ha ha what a joke...Mabe said the league hoped to use this opportunity to “build a link between corporate SA and ourselves”. Why would corporate SA want to build a link with an organisation that wants to nationalise them? a chance to “mobilise business behind our ideals”. I think its more a case of lets see what tenderpreneuring opertunities we can get from the "Gatkruiping" BEE busines fraternity. Why doesnt he do good and donate all that choice food to the poor starving unemployed youth that he is supposed to be serving??

LIONEL......No need for this type of disgusting racism. Be critical, but not personally racist. We don't need your type adding fuel to the fire. Many black folk do not agree with Malema and Co. Your comments sum up your intellect I guess.
