DA chief whip Watty Watson
Cape Town - DA Chief Whip Watty Watson has hit back at his ANC counterpart Mathole Motshekga, saying he will not apologise for “telling the truth” about the latter’s absence from chief whips’ forum meetings.
On Wednesday, Motshekga denied accusations by Watson that he had been “missing in action” from 11 of those 18 meetings, and demanded an apology.
Watson said former ANC deputy chief whip Gratitude Magwanishe had been left to run the meetings.
Motshekga dismissed the accusations as “outrageous and shameless hogwash”.
“If Watson’s theory was to be believed, it means that the ANC chief whip was present in Parliament for just less than two months out of the entire nine months this year,” said his spokesman Moloto Mothapo.
Watson added: “
Motshekga is misguided if he thinks I will apologise for telling the truth.”
