Johannesburg - The wedding guests who arrived at the Waterkloof Air Force Base earlier this week on a Gupta family-chartered jet have been processed through immigration, the department of home affairs said on Friday.

“To ensure full compliance with immigration law, upon departure of those visitors who attended the wedding at Sun City and were scheduled to leave today (Friday), we have processed 207 passengers and 12 crew members,” spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa said.

He said the department ensured that the number of passengers who alighted at the air force base in Pretoria coincided with the number of visitors who were scheduled to depart from India on Friday.

The guests were leaving from OR Tambo Airport in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

The jet chartered by the wealthy and politically connected Gupta family landed at the base - a national key point - on Tuesday.
