Axed Cape Town manager Wallace Mgoqi has failed in his fourth and final battle with the City of Cape Town to have the termination of his contract revoked.

Mayoral spokesperson Robert MacDonald said on Tuesday that the Supreme Court of Appeal had dismissed Mgoqi's private petition for leave to appeal a Cape High Court decision in May, with costs.

"It is finally over," he said.

Mgoqi was ordered to vacate his fifth floor office in the civic centre after it emerged that former executive mayor Nomaindia Mfeketo unilaterally extended Mgoqi's contract days before the local government election on March 1.

Despite a full council decision in April supporting the scrapping of Mgoqi's contract, the former land claims commissioner refused to leave his office. - Staff Writer
