Johannesburg - First it was Oscar Pistorius advocate Barry Roux with his freestyle song, but social networks on Friday went into a frenzy as the parody song N’kandla Style made its debut on YouTube.

The song – based on Psy’s Gangnam Style – is centred on President Jacob Zuma’s controversial Nkandla homestead following Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s findings on security features and renovations made at his home.

It also pokes fun at other contentious issues linked to Zuma, such as the Gupta plane saga.

By Friday night the clip had been viewed almost 42 693 times, with the number increasing by the hour.

The first part of the song goes: “Since the day I can remember I always wanted more, I wanted more money like the Afrikaner Boer, so I became a comrade when I was still young and yes to have it all I must B(EE) number one. To be number one you get to drive a gravy train, if you are number one you get to fly the Gupta’s plane, if you are number one you know the power of the shower… number One…”

It then makes reference to the fire pool – “skinny dipping with all my honeys in the pool”.

Not much is known about the creators apart from the fact that they call themselves N’kandla Staail.

On Friday, reaction to the clip flooded Twitter. @Tebzawalevenal said: “@julius_s malema are u the artist behind. “#nkandlastyle’s track lol just asking comrade.” - Saturday Star
