Parliament - Priority will be given to finalise key bills on land, labour and customs before Parliament adjourns for the elections, the ANC said on Wednesday.
It said there were 42 bills before the legislature and the term expired in approximately three months, making it unlikely for all to be passed before the country went to the polls.
The ANC chief whip's office said the party would ensure “special attention” was given to eight draft laws. They included the Restitution of Land Rights Amendment Bill, the Labour Relations Amendment Bill, the Rental Housing Amendment Bill, and three bills dealing with customs controls and duties.
The land bill seeks to extend the date for lodging a claim for restitution by five years to December 2018. The labour bill controversially does away with strike balloting and reduces the period of temporary service organised by labour brokers to three months from six months.
