Limpopo EFF trash comrades

Johannesburg - The EFF in Limpopo appears on the brink of a possible break-up, with senior leaders resorting to social media platforms to hurl verbal abuse at each other.

At the forefront of the heated public clash are commander-in-chief Julius Malema’s confidant Jossey “Stalin” Buthane and founding party leader Kwena Mojela.

Former ANC regional leader Buthane joined the EFF in October.

He was parachuted into the second top position of interim provincial co-ordinator.

Buthane replaced another founding party member, George Raphela.

After the EFF secured four seats in the May elections, Buthane was installed as one of the MPLs in the legislature.

Mojela was co-ordinator of the Capricorn interim regional command team until June, when Buthane’s provincial leadership unceremoniously replaced him with Malema’s cousin, Ronnie.

The fiery exchange on Facebook is centred on leadership preferences before the planned regional people’s assemblies (regional elective meetings) this month and the provincial people’s assembly.

Insiders claim Buthane, who they have labelled a dictator, stifles democracy.

“He now tells us there should be no leadership contest,” said a disgruntled source.

“We are defying his dictatorship. There is only one person that is not going to be contested and that’s Malema,” said the source.

Mojela is part of a faction that’s rebelling against Buthane’s leadership style.

He lashes Buthane through his regular Facebook updates.

On Sunday night, Mojela wrote: “People must not get a wrong idea about our Facebook updates, we are not fighting our EFF but Buthane Jossey in Limpopo, who is not with us to build but for his own gain.”
