Johannesburg - Graca Machel has waived her right to half of former president Nelson Mandela's estate, the Sunday Times reports.

The couple were married in community of property in 1998.

When Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke read Mandela's will out in February, he said his estate was estimated to be worth R46 million.

Machel was given three months to decide whether she wanted half of this.

She was still in mourning and was unable to comment.

Her lawyer Bally Chuene however confirmed to the newspaper that she had waived her right.

Machel would still have ownership of four properties in Mozambique.
