Suspended ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has been caught in the crossfire of an ambiguous foreign policy, the United Democratic Movement (UDM) said on Thursday evening.

“We find it mindboggling how the same ANC failed to sanction Malema for insulting former President Thabo Mbeki in 2008,” its leader Bantu Holomisa said in a statement.

He did not elaborate on it.

“The verdict on Julius Malema will certainly be finalised at the ANC's 2012 Mangaung conference.”

The ANC's national disciplinary committee found Malema guilty of provoking divisions within the ruling party and of bringing the organisation into disrepute.

He was suspended for five years and told to vacate his leadership position. - Sapa
