Johannesburg - Transport Minister Dipuo Peters on Wednesday dissociated herself from the bogus Facebook page that was started using her name.

“Minister Peters has strongly dissociated herself from these claims and has nothing whatsoever to do with this account on Facebook,” said department spokesman Jomo Khasu.

The Facebook page was made by Nicholas Triphati in the United Kingdom or the United States, said Khasu.

Triphati claimed to be creating jobs through the Southern African Development Community and the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) on the page.

The pictures on the social network page were also not obtained legitimately, said Khasu.

“The Ministry calls on this Mr Triphati to desist from abusing the name and reputation of Minister Peters,” said Khasu.

He said people should not to be duped and urged them to verify such claims with the department.
