Pretoria - Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa has been sworn-in as acting president, the presidency said on Saturday.

President Jacob Zuma was in America leading a South African delegation to the inaugural United States-Africa Leaders' Summit taking place from August 4-6 in Washington DC, spokesman Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa was in Nouakchott, in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-Elect Mahomed Ould Abdel Aziz.
