Pretoria - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe met a number of civil society organisations in Pretoria on Tuesday.

“This was not related to elections but was about government and what government can do,” his spokesman Thabo Masebe said.

“This was part of ongoing consultations with government.”

He said government met religious organisations last week.

Trade union Solidarity was invited to the meeting but said on Tuesday that it decided not to go.

“We recently had long discussions with Deputy President Motlanthe on a number of issues, including things we find problematic such as affirmative action, land reform, corruption, and service delivery,” spokesman Johan Kruger said.
