Johannesburg - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is visiting Beijing, China to attend the fifth South Africa-China bi-national commission (BNC), his office said on Monday.
Motlanthe arrived in China on Sunday for the two-day commission, his spokesman Thabo Masebe said in a statement.
The commission would be co-chaired by Motlanthe and Chinese vice-president Li Yuanchao.
The BNC would be preceded by talks on foreign affairs, economics and trade, science and technology, education, energy and minerals, and would review the implementation of previous BNC decisions.
“The BNC will discuss among others, regional and global geopolitical issues,” Masebe said.
Motlanthe was accompanied by ministers of Public Service Lindiwe Sisulu; Tourism, Marthinus van Schalkwyk; Mineral Resources, Susan Shabangu and by deputy ministers of International Relations, Ebrahim Ebrahim; Energy, Barbara Thompson; Trade and Industry, Thandi Tobias-Pokolo; and Public Enterprises, Bulelani Magwanishe. - Sapa
