“In addition to that, 95 young people will be involved in sustainable livelihood and entrepreneurship programmes.

“At least 250 young people will also participate in the national youth service for skills development.”

The provincial government was also set to recruit 586 unemployed graduates through various internship programmes in various departments.

“At least 20 employees have been registered with the electrical engineering learnership, to be trained as artisans.”

Modise said the provincial government would award 119 bursaries to study agriculture, mining engineering and other engineering fields, health, accounting, and finance.

On infrastructure development, Modise said at least R280 million would be spent this financial year to build new roads and rehabilitate existing ones.

“At least 80 percent of the money will be allocated to local small and medium enterprises. Thirty road projects will be under construction, as well as 24 building construction projects.”

New planning, design, and procurement processes for building construction and roads projects for the next financial year would be implemented. - Sapa
