Nafcoc throws weight behind ANCComment on this story
Johannesburg - The National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Nafcoc) will support the ANC in this year's elections, it said on Friday.
“Our support for the ANC is informed by the rich history and co-operation between the two organisations... and the strides that the ANC has made over the past 20 years to advance the interests of the black business community and the broader society,” Nafcoc president Joe Hlongwane said in a statement.
“Despite the socio-economic challenges that still persist and the economic inequalities that have consistently increased over the past 20 years, we believe that the ANC has the correct policies and programmes to address these challenges in the next 20 years of our democracy.”
The resolution to support the African National Congress was taken by members of Nafcoc's national executive in their capacities as representatives of 18 provincial and sector chambers.
However, it was explained that Nafcoc was a business organisation with members belonging to difference political parties and every member had a right to vote for whoever they wanted.
Hlongwane said Nafcoc had also thrown its weight behind the National Development Plan.
