Northern Cape ANC branches on Friday nominated party president Jacob Zuma to stand for a second term at the party's Mangaung elective conference.

Delegates at the Northern Cape nomination conference in Kimberley picked Kgalema Motlanthe as their candidate for deputy president of the party, to maintain the status quo.

The other nominations were Baleka Mbete for national chair, Gwede Mantashe for secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula for deputy secretary-general, and Lindiwe Sisulu for treasurer general.

The final nomination list was announced around 11pm on Friday.

Delegates were then tasked with nominating the members of the party's national executive committee. - Sapa
