Johannesburg -

There was no update on President Jacob Zuma's health on Sunday after he was admitted to hospital for tests and to rest.

Zuma was admitted to a Pretoria hospital on Saturday with instructions to rest following a demanding election and transition to a new administration, Maharaj said at the time.

Doctors were also expected to conduct tests on Zuma, who is 72.

On Friday, the leadership of the African National Congress ordered Zuma to take a break.

Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa said its election campaign was gruelling and Zuma needed a rest. ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe echoed similar sentiments at a meeting in Irene, saying Zuma was exhausted.
