Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma has decided to extend the honour of a special official funeral to former Chief Justice Arthur Chaskalson, the presidency said on Sunday.

The funeral would be held at the Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg on Monday and Zuma would attend, presidential spokesman Harold Maloka said in a statement.

Chaskalson, who died aged 81 in Johannesburg on Saturday, served as the first president of the Constitutional Court and as Chief Justice from November 2001 until his retirement in 2005.

Maloka said the national flag would be flown at half-mast from Monday until Friday. - Sapa
