Johannesburg -

President Jacob Zuma has declared a special provincial official funeral for Caroline Motsoaledi, the wife of Rivonia treason trialist Elias Motsoaledi, the presidency said on Tuesday.

“The president has directed that the national flag should be flown at half-mast at all stations in the Gauteng province on the day of her funeral, January 3,” it said in a statement.

Minister in the Presidency Susan Shabangu would deliver the eulogy at the funeral.

Motsoaledi, a veteran of the struggle for liberation who the presidency said remained steadfast in her convictions and commitment to a free South Africa, died in hospital on Tuesday.
