Johannesburg - The African National Congress could not immediately shed light on Sunday on the whereabouts of party stalwart Pallo Jordan.

“We haven't spoken to him and I'm not aware that anyone has spoken to him,” spokesman Keith Khoza said.

“We wouldn't know where he is at the moment.”

The Sunday Times reported that Jordan, an ANC MP, went to ground this week after reports surfaced that he did not have the academic qualifications he has long been associated with.

The newspaper reported last week that no evidence could be found that Jordan, who goes by the title 'Dr' has ever had an honorary doctorate bestowed on him.

Jordan has no degrees or diplomas from the University of Wisconsin-Madison or the London School of Economics (LSE), the two institutions cited on his CV.

He has no formal tertiary academic qualifications whatsoever, the publication reported.

According to Sunday's report Jordan was dumped this week as a Business Day columnist because he failed to submit his weekly column for the publication.

Close friends, comrades and neighbours have reportedly also not seen or heard from Jordan. Some said they were worried.

A number of friends said they had not been able to find him since the report about his qualifications.

“Tell him to call me, if you find him. I am so worried,” a prominent ANC member and long-time friend was quoted as saying.

Another said: “I do not know where he is, and if I knew, I would not tell you.

A Sunday Times reporter visited Jordan's home in Cape Town and the house reportedly looked empty.
