Johannesburg - Britain's Prince Charles will arrive for the funeral of former president Nelson Mandela on Sunday morning, the British High Commission in Pretoria said on Saturday.
“His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is expected to arrive in Qunu (on Sunday morning) to attend the funeral of former president Nelson Mandela,” it said in a statement.
The prince would leave South Africa after the funeral, and would not be available for media interviews.
Prince Charles would be accompanied by British High Commissioner Judith Macgregor.
Mandela died on December 5, at his home in Houghton, Johannesburg, at the age of 95.
Mandela's body lay in state at the Union Buildings in Pretoria from Wednesday to Friday.
On Saturday morning, an airforce plane carrying Mandela's body departed from the Waterkloof Air Force Base to Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, ahead of the state funeral to be held in Qunu on Sunday. - Sapa
