Correctional Services Minister Ngconde Balfour is studying a report he received a week ago on the alleged misconduct by a junior official in connection with the parole application by the killers of SA Communist Party leader Chris Hani.

Thursday was the deadline for Hani's family to submit to the Parole Board any objections to the application for parole by Clive Derby Lewis and Janus Walusz.

Balfour launched an investigation into the official's conduct after he sent an e-mail to Hani's widow, Limpho, asking her to make representations in response to Derby Lewis and Walusz's bid for an early release from jail.
