The ANC is embroiled in a “profound crisis”, with its credibility at its lowest point in the past 22 years, according to Dr Pallo Jordan, a member of the party’s highest decision-making body, who called for a “dignified and oral” leadership to take over and clear out the corruption.

Jordan voiced his disappointment during his address to about 250 guests on Thursday, attending the 20th commemoration of the Bhisho massacre in the town’s Good News Christian Centre.

A total of 28 marchers and a soldier were killed when apartheid government forces, including the Ciskei Defence Force, opened fire on protesters on September 7, 1992.

Jordan compared the incident to the Marikana massacre. “The leadership of the ANC has been stripped of its dignity.

The ANC has lost legitimacy,” Jordan said. – Staff Reporter
