The debt-ridden provincial ANC says it is committed to paying its bills, including a R1.8 million invoice it has failed to settle with the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) since last February.
The party said it was being hampered by not receiving funds meant for its coffers.
Provincial secretary Songezo Mjongile said: “We are committed to pay our bills. We will resolve the debts of the ANC in the Western Cape, which we largely inherited.”
The branch owes R1.8m to the CTICC for hosting its elective conference last February.
The sheriff of the court attached furniture in the provincial office last week.
ANC treasurer-general Mathews Phosa is reportedly going to step in to help settle the CTICC debt.
