Queues a no-no for new voterComment on this story
Johannesburg - A first-time voter in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, on Wednesday vowed to not vote again unless the IEC changed the voting system.
“As a born-free, I feel we should not be standing in long winding queues in the hot sun while today's technology is so advanced,” said 20-year-old Annah Molla.
“I will not vote again next time as long as I have to queue like this.”
Asked how she wanted to cast her vote, she said votes could be sent straight to the Independent Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) via cellphones, as long as a voter is registered.
“Government should start using available technology... this method is ancient,” she said as she took a glimpse of the winding queue at Diepsloot Combined School.
