Pretoria - Crowds at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria cheered loudly as ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa arrived to deliver the party's Gauteng provincial manifesto on Sunday.

After midday, Ramaphosa led a delegation of senior party officials including provincial chairman Paul Mashatile and secretary David Makhura waving clenched fists to the thousands of supporters.

Soon after, a convoy of around 20 motorbikes were revved in the stadium to loud cheers and ululations by the crowds.

Thousands were still streaming into the stadium, west of Pretoria.

Numerous Tshwane emergency services personnel were on stand-by with their vehicles, near the stage.

People in the stands stood up and started singing, while programme director Gwen Ramokgopa was talking on the podium.

Several members of the SA Communist Party in red regalia were also in the crowds.
