Kimberley - Do not rest on your laurels for the 2014 general elections, ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa told hundreds of party revellers at the Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberley on Saturday.

“It going to take a real push form us to achieve a majority,” said Ramaphosa to a sea of yellow clad supporters.

“70 percent in the Northern Cape.”

Earlier, he told the crowd the coming elections would be critical for the African National Congress government.

Ramaphosa arrived at the party's manifesto launch in the Northern Cape with pages of promises for the province and praises for the ANC government's achievements in the last 20 years.

He told the crowd no other country took more care of its people than the ANC government.

“No other government had the courage to bring a university here,” Ramaphosa said to applause from the crowd.

He said the future ANC government would focus on education in the next five years.

“The ANC has something coming for the youth.”

He promised that the party would focus on the Northern Cape with heavy investment in infrastructure in the future.

“We will focus on the Northern Cape… so that people can get jobs.”

Ramaphosa said the future ANC government would make sure that national government helped provincial and local governments with their problems. - Sapa
