Pretoria - The government on Friday condemned a terrorist attack which killed more than 30 people in China's north-west region.
“We believe that terrorism in any form and from whichever quarter cannot be condoned,” international relations department spokesman Clayson Monyela said in a statement.
“The South African government sends its deepest condolences to the government and the people of the People's Republic of China, and in particular to the families of the deceased, and wishes the injured speedy recoveries.”
Thirty-one people were killed and more than 90 injured in a bombing of a civilian market in Xinjiang on Thursday.
Agence France-Presse reported that assailants threw explosives and ploughed two off-road vehicles into a crowd in the regional capital, Urumqi.
