Johannesburg - SABC acting chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng has been “released from his duties”, the broadcaster said on Tuesday.

“Mr Motsoeneng will revert back to his position as group executive: provinces,” it said in a statement.

“The board would like to thank Mr Motsoeneng for his contribution during his time as acting chief operating officer.”

No details were given about why he was being removed from the position.

Mike Siluma, a veteran journalist and head of radio news and current affairs, was now appointed to the acting position. - Sapa
