Johannesburg -
Economic Freedom Fighters supporters started arriving at Thokoza Park, in Soweto on Saturday to celebrate the party's first year anniversary.
The park was a sea of red with supporters donning the party's famous red berets and T-shirts.
The T-shirts were handed out to supporters as they entered the park. They were also given a CD and a tray of meat consisting of boerewors, chicken and a steak.
Security at the entrance to the event was tight as personnel searched everyone entering the premises.
Just after 2pm the queues to enter the park were still long.
EFF leader Julius Malema is expected to give a keynote address later in the day.
Supporters already inside Thokoza Park were entertained by local artists such as Kelly Khumalo.
Locals had set up stalls along the roads around the park selling food and beverages. - Sapa
