Johannesburg - Former police commissioner Jackie Selebi was discharged from a hospital on Thursday, the correctional services department said.
Deputy chief commissioner James Smalberger said Selebi was admitted on Tuesday and had been in hospital since.
“Doctors decided during the course of Thursday to discharge Selebi and he was taken to his home.”
Smalberger said he could not comment on which hospital Selebi had been admitted to, or on his condition.
On Monday, Steve Biko Academic Hospital CEO Ernest Kenoshi said Selebi was no longer a patient there and asked last week to be transferred to Jakaranda Hospital in Pretoria.
Jakaranda Hospital spokeswoman Adri Opperman said the hospital had a policy of not talking about its patients.
Selebi was granted medical parole two weeks ago and was placed under house arrest. He was convicted of corruption in 2010 and sentenced to 15 years in prison. - Sapa
