Johannesburg - The Zakariyya Park Madressa in Zakariyya Park, south of Joburg, has asked for an apology from Al Jazeera.

One of the cables released on Monday was an NIA document from January 2010 that looked at Iranian intelligence services’ operations in South Africa.

The document names numerous businesses in the country that were said to be fronts for Iranian intelligence, as well as three places where it was said training was taking place for jihad camps.

The Zakariyya Park madrassa is named in the document as a training camp.

The organisation sent out a release on Wednesday, saying the reports were “wholly untrue and maliciously so”.

They were a strictly academic institute and all their students were legal.
