The lowdown on Joburg’s budget

Johannesburg - City of Johannesburg announced a R47.1 billion operating and capital spending budget for 2014/15 on Tuesday.

The capital spending budget (CEB) over the next three years is R32bn * R10.4bn in the new financial year, according to member of the mayoral committee (MMC) for finance Geoffrey Makhubo.

The operating budget is R36.7bn.

The sustainable services cluster's 2014/15 operating budget (OB), which oversees and co-ordinates the bulk of the city's service delivery obligations, is allocated R22.6bn, which is over 60 percent of the city's overall operating budget.
