DURBAN – South Africans celebrate 23 years of democracy on Thursday in commemoration of the day – April 27, 1994 – when millions were given the right to vote.

The first democratic election, which ushered the country’s first black president, Nelson Mandela was an historic moment that not only gave hope to a nation but inspired the world.

South Africa’s political landscape has shifted since then and party of Mandela has never been more divided.

The Daily News went in search of the views of people on what they felt when they voted in 1994 compared to what they feel now.
