Norma Gigaba, the wife of South Africa's newest finance minister, Malusi Gigaba, spoke to eNCA’s Ayanda Allie Paine in an in-depth interview.

The IT specialist and philanthropist said she loved IT but her subsequent graphic design studies helped her realise her real role as a glamorous woman.

She clarified where the nickname "Ms Gigabyte" came from and also said she wanted to dispel public misconceptions about her. She was at pains to point out that she is an independent woman who will prove herself to people who take the time to get to know her.

What got social media users talking though, was her description of her job, which she said entails working with "big tenders."

But I don't understand why ENCA felt the need to interview Norma Gigaba. I don't recall Pravin or Trevor manuel's wife being interviewed. 😒 pic.twitter.com/A8jnWJ19iX
