It’s less than three weeks to the opening of the London Olympics and Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula called on South Africans to show their support by wearing green and gold.

Mbalula and Lead SA yesterday launched Team SA Fridays, an initiative similar to the Soccer Fridays during the World Cup.

He said sports brought people together and promoted social cohesion.

Mbalula said the team would be given a send-off on July 19 at the OR Tambo International Airport.

Lead SA’s Yusuf Abramjee said people should wear national colours with pride during the Olympics.

Supporters’ shirts can be ordered and bought from various sportswear companies.
