Johannesburg -

Struggle veteran Ahmed Kathrada and Nobel Laureate JM Coetzee will receive honorary doctorates from Wits University next week.

Kathrada, who was jailed alongside former president Nelson Mandela, will be awarded a Doctor of Literature degree on Tuesday at 3pm, Wits University said in a statement on Wednesday.

Coetzee, a double recipient of the Booker Prize and a winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, will also receive a Doctor of Literature degree, at 10am on Monday.

Wits will award a Doctor of Science in engineering degree to David Glasser, who joined Wits in 1964 and later became the dean of the engineering faculty. He will receive his honorary doctorate on Wednesday at 10am.

All the events will be held at the Wits Great Hall. - Sapa
