Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma's visit to Nelspruit, in Mpumalanga, has been delayed because of bad weather, the presidency said on Tuesday.

“The president is now making use of alternative means of reaching the designated venues,” said spokesman Mac Maharaj.

Zuma is in Mpumalanga to monitor the Mbombela municipality's progress in protecting the rights of the disabled and related government services, as part of his Siyahlola Presidential Monitoring Programme.

He will visit various Mpumalanga government projects aimed at improving the lives of the disabled.

He is expected to visit the Tentele Activity Centre, which equips the disabled with skills, and the Kanyamazane Community Health Care Centre, to assess its accessibility to the disabled.

He will end the visit with community talks at Bergvlam High School in Nelspruit.

Zuma is accompanied by Mpumalanga premier David Mabuza and various ministers.
