Five men have been arrested for an attempted robbery at Montecasino, police said on Monday.
Spokesperson Captain Cheryl Engelbrecht said a gang of about ten heavily armed men tried to rob the casino on Sunday around 5pm.
"A gun battle ensued between casino security and the would-be robbers - three of them were shot and injured; two were arrested," she said.
The rest of the gang fled empty handed, she said.
The injured men were under police guard in hospital and more arrests were expected, Engelbrecht said.
Some of the gang members were armed with AK47s.
