A black business organisation, The Mazibuye African Forum, has distributed pamphlets in KwaZulu-Natal complaining about the involvement of Indians in the province's economy, City Press reported on Sunday.

“If the ANC does not address this issue, a civil war could break out in KwaZulu-Natal because people are very angry,” the forum's founder Zweli Sangweni told the newspaper.

“They are tired of being enslaved by Indians in their own land. They are saying the ANC sold them out and gave the economy to the Indians to control at the expense of their constituencies.”

City Press reported that the forum, which claimed to have 10,000 members, distributed the pamphlets late last year. The remarks on the pamphlet included: “As black businesspeople, we are fed up with your Indians”.

The newspaper reported that Economic Freedom Fighters and National Freedom Party members were amongst the Mazibuye supporters.

ANC provincial spokesman Senzo Mkhize told the City Press that party's members were not allowed to be involved with the forum, which he called racist.

The newspaper reported that another organisation, the Imbumba Business Group, which claimed to have 700 members, many of them ANC supporters, was complaining about the economic elite in the province. -Sapa
