Cape Town - Cape Town has had its fair share of hot and humid weather, as well as rain dances.

Some might consider thunder and lightning as "harsh" weather, but this was not the case in Cape Town.

For the first time in weeks, Capetonians welcomed the rain, thunder and lightning on Wednesday.

The province's drought has seen collective dam levels continue to drop and stood at just over 23% this week, rendering the Mother City with 86 days of water left.

It had previously said water shedding would be a last resort and had asked consumers not to use municipal water for outside use.

Social media was abuzz with posts on their relief and happiness for the much-needed raindrops.
