Patta was appointed as editor-in-chief in 2005 and since then has won numerous awards, including Journalist Achiever of the Year and the 2009 Vodacom Women in the Media Award.
Her e.tv profile says: "While working on her Bachelor of Social Sciences at the University of Cape Town, Patta was a fearless political activist in Cape Town's squatter camps in the turbulent '80s. She then joined Radio 702 as a journalist and the rest as they say is history."
Patta has interviewed former South African president and humanitarian Nelson Mandela, current President Jacob Zuma and suspended police boss Robert McBride.
