A Cape Town woman had a narrow escape when she fiercely resisted being bundled into her car in Gardens.
It was shortly before 6pm on Sunday evening when 23-year-old Tanielle Knipe parked outside her boyfriend's block of flats.
She locked the driver's door and moved around to the passenger seat door to collect her bag when she noticed a young man, wearing a hoodie top and dark sunglasses, moving quickly towards her. Instantly, he grabbed her from behind, his face pressed against her ear, gripping her tightly.
"He told me: 'Don't move. Don't make a noise'. He pulled me towards my car, he was so strong. I thought I was not going to survive. But then I realised I must try to fight."
The petite production co-ordinator began screaming and trying to free herself.
"A man walking his dog saw us and shouted. I felt his grip release and he grabbed my bag and ran."
Police spokeswoman Captain Carin Loock confirmed a robbery case had been opened, adding that there had been an increase in theft out of vehicles and robberies in the area.
