Cape Town - Social grants are being paid early next month to avoid the disruption of elections.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) said payments would be on July 27 to 29.
There would be no payments at paypoints from August 1 to 3 “due to the local government elections”, said Sassa spokesperson Kgomoco Diseko.
Payment at paypoints will resume on August 4 until the last payment date.
Diseko said payments would be made without interruption from July 27 to August 25 for beneficiaries using other payment channels such as ATMs and stores.
The elections are on August 3, which has been declared a public holiday.
