According to sources, at around 12h30 passengers standing at the arrivals section of the airport were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Sources said the Port Elizabeth bomb squad were called in to investigate an uncollected bag that remained in the luggage section.

Airport officials said that this was the usual protocol whenever luggage was left unattended to.
