Boy, 12, dies after being hit by bus in Eastern Cape

PORT ELIZABETH, March 16 (ANA) - A 12-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a bus at Gqunqe Village in Centane in the Eastern Cape, police said on Thursday.

Athini Qondani succumbed to his injuries at around 4:30pm on Wednesday after he was hit by a bus while trying to cross a gravel road.

Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, said the accident was under investigation by Centane police who have opened a culpable homicide case.

"Parents are warned to escort the children when they are to cross the roads to avoid the repeat of such incidents," said Manatha.
