Butterworth, Eastern Cape - The body of a 12-year-old boy who drowned in the Cegcuwana river at Mission Village was recovered on Sunday morning, Eastern Cape police said.

He was among four teenagers who went to swim on Saturday, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

“It is alleged that the boy drowned at about 2pm and his friends went home to inform the elders about the incident,” said Manatha.

Police divers found his body floating in the river on Sunday morning.
