Port Elizabeth - The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in collaboration with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and MTN are continuing its Voter Education Campaign across the province.

The campaign which kicked off last month aims to create awareness around the importance of voting following an observation that there is a poor voter turn out by the youth.

Members of Parliament (MPs), National Council of Provinces (NCOP) and Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs), Municipality Councillors and representatives will visit various towns as part of the campaign in a bid to educate the electorate on the importance of participating in elections.

Officials are expected to visit Butterworth and Mount Ayliff this week.

The programme aims to encourage first time voters, particularly the youth and other potential voters to participate maximally in the upcoming local government elections on August 3.

The campaign continues until July 25.
