Eastern Cape - Paramedics in the Eastern Cape have gone on strike, the provincial health department said on Tuesday.

Their demands included payment of overtime and a performance management system, spokesman Siyanda Manana said.

“(Health) MEC Sicelo Gqobana has appointed a task team to look in to the payment problems within the department.”

Manana said private ambulance services would be asked to help during the strike. On Monday, the department received 60 more ambulances. - Sapa
